HIP SURGERY
WHEN DO I NEED HIP SURGERY?
Hip surgery is used to address a variety of traumatic injuries or chronic conditions that affect the ball-and-socket joint of your hip.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING ARTHROSCOPIC HIP SURGERY?
Your hip surgery will be tailored to the specific needs of your injury or condition. While you’re under general anesthesia, Dr. Wusu makes a few small incisions for the thin arthroscopic camera, as well as for the narrow surgical instruments.
While watching the monitor and the live video portrayed from the arthroscope, Dr. Wusu can:
Resolve bone friction from hip impingement
Perform labral repairs or reconstructions
Repair torn tendons, ligaments, or muscles
Remove damaged tissue
Realign fractures
Perform tissue grafting
You and Dr. Wusu will discuss your surgical options before your procedure to ensure you are comfortable and informed.
HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY AFTER HIP SURGERY?
Dr. Wusu generally recommends using crutches following surgery to help you get around and minimize bearing weight on your treated hip.
You might need crutches for a longer period of time for more complex procedures, but most patients who undergo arthroscopic hip surgery can walk around unassisted within the first month. Your specific post-operative care will depend on your procedure and other factors.
Dr. Wusu and his team will support you every step of the way to ensure you have a successful recovery. Schedule your hip surgery consultation by booking online or calling your nearest office.
